Shokat Lal

Shokat is Chief Executive of Sandwell MBC. He is an experienced local government officer with a demonstrated history of working across the public sector, in local government and health at a senior board level.  As Chief Executive, Shokat’s first responsibility was to bring Sandwell Council out of government intervention through an improvement plan. Prior to this Shokat was Executive Director of Core Services at Barnsley Council, responsible for a range of corporate services including finance, ICT, communications, HR and Legal services. Shokat was also previously Assistant Chief Executive at Rotherham Council where he was part of the senior leadership team responsible for bringing the council out of intervention. He has also worked as a Lay Member and Non Executive Director for various NHS boards.
